SALVATION MINISTRIES DEDICATES 120,000-SEATER HAND OF GOD CATHEDRAL IN PORT HARCOURT

The global headquarters of Salvation Ministries, the 120,000-seat Hand of God Cathedral located at Igwuruta along Airport Road in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, was officially dedicated in the early hours of Friday, 6 November 2026.

The dedication service was led by the founder and presiding pastor of Salvation Ministries, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, together with his wife, Pastor (Dr.) Peace Ibiyeomie. The event drew thousands of worshippers, members from across Nigeria and the diaspora, Christian leaders, and other guests to the Igwuruta site.

Prominent among those present was Bishop David Oyedepo, founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide (Winners Chapel). Bishop Oyedepo, widely regarded as a spiritual mentor to Pastor Ibiyeomie, arrived ahead of the ceremony and participated in the dedication proceedings. Other Christian leaders, including Pastor Paul Enenche and Dr. Becky Enenche of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, were also reported among the guests.

In his address, Pastor David Ibiyeomie recounted how the vision for a large cathedral was given years earlier when the ministry was still relatively small. He described the completed Hand of God Cathedral as a fulfilment of that vision and a testimony of God’s provision, noting that the project faced various challenges during construction. He further disclosed that the entire project was completed debt-free, without bank loans or foreign aid.

The cathedral features a distinctive five-wing design resembling an open hand, covers a footprint of approximately 56,000 square metres, and is equipped with modern facilities including advanced sound systems, LED screens, and lighting. Reports indicate it has about 400 toilets and parking space for around 350 vehicles.

Bishop David Oyedepo congratulated Pastor Ibiyeomie and his wife on the completion of the project, describing it as a significant achievement. He led the congregation in the dedication prayer, committing the building and its facilities to God and declaring that the altar would remain a place of fire and not entertainment.

Pastor (Dr.) Peace Ibiyeomie expressed gratitude to members of Salvation Ministries worldwide for their support and to the engineers, architects, contractors, and workers who completed the project.

The dedication service included praise and worship, prayers, and ministrations. Overflow arrangements were made for worshippers who could not be seated in the main auditorium, with large screens set up at strategic points within the complex.

The Hand of God Cathedral now serves as the new global headquarters of Salvation Ministries. The ministry has announced that regular Sunday services will begin at the new cathedral on 8 November 2026, marking the start of a new chapter in its growth and outreach.
