Chairman of the Senate Committee on Diaspora Affairs, Senator Aniekan Bassey, has strongly condemned the recent protest in Ghana where some citizens called for Nigerians to leave the country.
Senator Bassey described the act as “deeply disturbing and un-African.”
He said, “Nigeria and Ghana must keep the flame of brotherhood alive. We are stronger together”.
As a member of the ECOWAS Parliament, Senator Bassey praised the swift interventions of NIDCOM Chair, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Amb. Bianca Ojukwu, for their diplomatic efforts in calming tensions.
He reassured Nigerians in Ghana that both governments are actively working to ensure their safety and dignity.
“Let us remain peaceful and law-abiding. Dialogue is the only way forward”, Senator Bassey advised.
