Suspected Ritualist Plucking Human Eyes Escapes Lynching In Jigawa

A suspected ritualist, identified as Malam narrowly escaped lynching yesterday in Tarabu community of Jigawa State, after being caught attempting to remove the eye of a corpse at a cemetery.

The suspect, according to a source was reportedly apprehended by a Good Samaritan who had gone to the cemetery to cut grasses and apprehended him in the act, and quietly mobilized other residents of the area to arrest him.

Upon realizing he had been discovered, the suspects fled the scene to the palace of the District Head of Kiri-Kasamma to seek refuge.

However, angry youths pursued and began beating him before a security personnel intervened and rescue the suspect from mob attack.

The source also said, the mobs vandalized security vehicle used to convey the suspect as the security personnel managed to disperse the crowd and whisked him to their custody for Investigation.

Efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Jigawa State Command for comment at Press time was not successful, as he did not respond to his calls.
