TINUBU CONGRATULATES ADELEKE ON OSUN VICTORY, SAYS DEMOCRACY WILL CONTINUE TO FLOURISH

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke on his re-election, describing the victory as a fitting assurance that democracy will continue to flourish in Nigeria under the All Progressives Congress administration.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, following the conclusion of the Osun State governorship election, President Tinubu said he had personally called Governor Adeleke to congratulate him on his electoral victory.

It was recorded that the Presidency called Governor Ademola Adeleke in the early hours of yesterday to congratulate him on his election victory in Osun State. His victory once again confirmed the confidence the people of Osun State have in him, the President said.

Adeleke, who contested on the platform of the Accord Party, secured a second term after defeating his closest rival, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, by roughly 66,000 votes 511,067 to 444,815 in results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission. Najeem Salaam of the African Democratic Congress placed third.

The President urged the governor to use his renewed mandate to unite the people of Osun State and mobilise them towards growth, stability, and social and economic development, irrespective of their political affiliations or choices during the election.

Tinubu also commended the other candidates who contested the election, praising their courage and discipline and noting that their participation contributed to strengthening Nigeria’s democratic culture. According to him, the outcome reflected the will of the people of Osun State and demonstrated the resilience of the country’s democratic process. The outcome of the election reflects the will of the people and is a fitting assurance that democracy will continue to flourish in our land, he said.

The President further commended INEC and security agencies for conducting what he described as a peaceful and transparent election that produced a clear winner, and urged all stakeholders to support the incoming administration in advancing the interests and development of Osun State.

Reacting after his victory was declared, Adeleke thanked Tinubu for the call, saying it reflected the President’s commitment to allowing Osun voters to choose their governor without federal interference. He said his administration’s next priority would be transforming Osun from a civil service dependent economy into an industrial hub.
