LAFIA – The Executive Chairman of the Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board (NSUBEB), Dr. Kassim Muhammed Kassim, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to driving universal access to quality education, declaring that no child of school age in the state must be left out of school.
Speaking at the UBEC Modern Smart School, Lafia, during the commemoration of World Teachers’ Day, Dr. Kassim unveiled a new initiative tagged “A. A. Sule Leave No Child Behind Project”, designed to ensure that every child in Nasarawa has access to free, qualitative, and inclusive basic education.
He cautioned parents who deliberately refuse to send their children to school, stressing that such acts would attract legal consequences under the new enforcement framework.
Dr. Kassim extolled teachers for their sacrifice, resilience, and dedication to nation-building, describing them as “role models and builders of future leaders.” He tasked teachers to continue upholding professionalism, moral integrity, and excellence in service delivery, while assuring them of prompt payment of salaries and entitlements.
In a bid to promote fairness and equity in the sector, the chairman disclosed that he has inaugurated a special committee to tackle nepotism and irregular placements within the board. Teachers with pending grievances, he said, are encouraged to submit their cases for review.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Nasarawa State Wing, Comrade Ishaka Mohammed Isa, lauded Governor Abdullahi Sule for his sustained investment in the education sector. He highlighted the administration’s policies, including free payment of WAEC and NECO fees, construction and renovation of classrooms, and provision of libraries and laboratories in secondary schools, as key milestones in repositioning education.
This year’s celebration carried the global theme, “Together for Teachers, Together for Tomorrow,” underscoring the importance of unity, innovation, and shared responsibility in advancing education.
