Civil service to go paperless by December – FG

The Federal Government has announced plans to make the Nigerian Civil Service fully paperless by December 31, 2025. Dr. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, made this announcement during a briefing in Abuja to commemorate the 2025 African Public Service Day and Civil Service Week.

The move is part of the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021-2025. Eleven ministries have already adopted the Enterprise Content Management Systems, with others at varying stages of implementation. The Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation has engaged partners to help fund digital transitions in some ministries.

A recent study tour to Singapore, supported by the United Nations Development Programme, involved 20 State Heads of Service and aimed to benchmark best global practices and enhance Nigeria’s public service delivery. The Federal Government is working towards ensuring the Nigerian Civil Service is fully paperless by the end of the year, with the goal of improving efficiency and service delivery.
