President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart Abuja today on a high-level diplomatic tour of France, Kenya, and Rwanda in a bid to strengthen Nigeria’s international partnerships and advancing economic growth opportunities.

According to a State House press release issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President is departing Abuja today Saturday, May 2, with his first stop in France before proceeding to Nairobi, Kenya, to participate in the upcoming Africa-France Summit.

The summit, scheduled for May 11–12, will be co-chaired by French President Emmanuel Macron and Kenyan President William Ruto.

It is expected to focus on key issues including energy transition, green industrialisation, digital transformation, climate action, and the restructuring of the global financial architecture.

With the theme “Africa Forward: Africa-France Partnerships for Innovation and Growth,” the gathering will bring together African leaders and their French counterparts to deliberate on pressing developmental challenges such as; economic transformation, infrastructure development, youth empowerment, and technological advancement.

President Tinubu’s participation is seen as a reaffirmation of Nigeria’s commitment to deepening strategic alliances with African nations and France, while also positioning the country as a leading destination for investment.

Following the Nairobi summit, the President will travel to Kigali, Rwanda, for the Africa CEO Forum slated for May 14–15.

The forum, themed “Scale or Fail,” is regarded as the continent’s largest assembly of private sector leaders, investors, and policymakers.

Organised in partnership with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the forum is expected to attract over 2,000 top executives and government officials to explore strategies for accelerating economic transformation through regional integration and cross-border investments.

At both events, President Tinubu is expected to outline his administration’s ongoing economic reforms and engage in high-level discussions with global and African business leaders aimed at boosting Nigeria’s economic prospects.

The President is accompanied on the trip by selected ministers and senior aides, and is expected to return to the country at the conclusion of the Rwanda summit.
