Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has expressed strong confidence and optimism that the All Progressives Congress, APC, will surmount all challenges, overcome all obstacles and emerge victorious in the 2027 general elections in the state.
The Governor made this known on Sunday during a special dedication and interdenominational church service organised for the party’s 2027 election campaign activities, held at the International Christian Worship Centre, ICWC, in Uyo, the state capital.
The well-attended service was organised to formally commit the campaign council, all candidates of the APC and the entire electioneering process into the hands of God for divine guidance, protection, wisdom and success ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
According to Governor Eno, the decision to dedicate the party’s campaign to God is a demonstration of the APC’s recognition of God’s supremacy and sovereignty over all affairs of men, including politics and governance, and its total dependence on divine direction for victory.
He stated that with God on the side of the party, and with unity, hard work and commitment among members, the APC will not only win the 2027 general elections in Akwa Ibom State but will also deliver massive votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all candidates of the party.
The Governor noted that while challenges, disagreements and political intrigues are inevitable in any political organisation, especially in the build-up to general elections, what matters most is the ability of party members to manage their differences maturely and remain focused on the bigger picture.
He therefore urged members of the APC in the state, particularly stakeholders, leaders and members of the campaign council, to avoid personal interests, selfish ambitions and internal disagreements that are capable of weakening their collective efforts and undermining the party’s chances at the polls.
Governor Eno stressed that the welfare, well-being and overall interest of the people of Akwa Ibom State must remain the central focus and overriding priority of their political activities, rather than personal gains and parochial interests that breed disunity.
He explained that the APC in Akwa Ibom State is one big family with a common destiny, and as such, members must learn to accommodate one another, make sacrifices where necessary and work together in love and unity for the success of the party.
The Governor also emphasised the need for members to eschew politics of bitterness, rancour, backbiting and character assassination, and to embrace politics of inclusion, tolerance, forgiveness and mutual respect, if the party must present a formidable and united front in 2027.
In his remarks, Governor Eno expressed profound appreciation to the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, his wife, Dr. Mrs. Ekaette Unoma Akpabio, and other top party stakeholders, leaders and faithful who graced the dedication service despite their tight schedules.
He described the presence of Senator Akpabio and other leaders at the event as a clear demonstration of their commitment, loyalty and dedication to the growth, unity and success of the APC in Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria at large.
The Governor noted that the unity and solidarity displayed at the service was a strong indication that the APC in the state is ready, prepared and determined to go into the 2027 elections as one indivisible, cohesive and formidable family.
Also speaking at the event, the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, commended Governor Umo Eno for his exemplary leadership style, particularly for promoting peace, unity, inclusiveness and stability in Akwa Ibom State since assumption of office.
Senator Akpabio lauded the Governor for running an inclusive government that has fostered harmony among diverse political interests in the state and for extending a hand of fellowship to all Akwa Ibom people irrespective of party affiliation.
The Senate President urged members of the campaign council and all party faithful to embrace wisdom, reconciliation, humility and selfless service in the discharge of their responsibilities, noting that these virtues are essential for electoral success.
He stated that members of the campaign council must see their appointment as a call to service and not an opportunity for personal enrichment or self-aggrandisement, and must work diligently to ensure the victory of the party at all levels.
Senator Akpabio also called on party members to be magnanimous in victory, to forgive past wrongs and to carry everyone along in the scheme of things, so that no one feels marginalised or excluded in the party.
The event, which was attended by a mammoth crowd of APC faithful, party leaders, political office holders, religious leaders and supporters from across the 31 local government areas of the state, was characterised by soul-lifting worship, fervent prayers and words of exhortation.
The high point of the service was the dedication and formal commitment of all APC candidates and members of the campaign council to God, performed by Archbishop Isaiah Isong and Bishop John Aya, who prayed for divine wisdom, protection, favour and resounding victory for the party in the 2027 general elections.
In their prayers, the clergymen asked God to grant the party unity, peace and success in its campaigns, to frustrate every plan of the enemies of the state, and to ensure that the 2027 elections in Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria are peaceful, credible and successful.
At the end of the service, party leaders and members expressed optimism that with God on their side and with the calibre of candidates and campaign council members assembled, the APC is well-positioned and well able to win the 2027 general elections in Akwa Ibom State and contribute significantly to the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
