Ibom Air has announced the appointment of seasoned aviator, Captain Banjana Bailor, as its new Director of Flight Operations.
According to Ibom Air management, the appointment is a strategic move aimed at strengthening its operational leadership and sustaining its growth trajectory.
The airline disclosed that Capt. Bailor brings over four decades of aviation experience and more than 20,000 flying hours to the role, underscoring his deep expertise in airline operations, safety management systems, and pilot leadership.
Before joining Ibom Air, he held several senior operational positions where he was instrumental in setting high flight crew standards, promoting a robust safety culture, and implementing procedures aligned with global aviation best practices.
Commenting on the appointment, the Chief Executive Officer of Ibom Air, George Uriesi, described Capt. Bailor as a valuable addition to the airline’s leadership team.

His wealth of experience, technical competence, and unwavering commitment to safety make him the ideal fit to lead our flight operations as we continue to expand our network and uphold our reputation for scheduled reliability,” Uriesi said.
Capt. Bailor holds an Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) and has extensive operational experience across multiple aircraft types, including the BAC 1-11 turbojet, DC-9, Saab SF-340 turboprop, CRJ series, and the Boeing 737 NG.
He is also certified as an FAA-licensed Airframe and Powerplant mechanic in addition to being an alumnus of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Technical College, Zaria, and Texas State Technical College, United States, where he earned Associate degree in Applied Sciences in Aircraft Maintenance Technology.
Capt. Bailor is expected to play a pivotal role in advancing the airline’s operational efficiency.
Ibom Air, is a state-owned carrier under the Akwa Ibom State Government, operates a fleet of Bombardier CRJ 900 and Airbus A220-300 aircraft, servicing key domestic routes and regional destinations, including Accra, Ghana.
The airline said the appointment reflects its ongoing commitment to building a world-class African regional airline anchored on safety, reliability, and service excellence.
