As the world marks International Youth Day 2026 today, young people are being encouraged to play a more active role in shaping their future under the theme, “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations.”

Speaking with Uyo Infomedia, a Political analyst, Comrade White Emmanuel, said young Nigerians continue to face challenges including limited employment opportunities, inadequate access to quality education and the digital divide, stressing the need for policies that address their realities.

Emmanuel called for greater investment in education, skills development, employment and digital access, while urging government and other stakeholders to create platforms for young people to participate meaningfully in decisions affecting their lives and communities.

The United Nations says young people in Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States often face overlapping challenges, including poverty, climate change, geographical isolation and limited economic opportunities, but continue to demonstrate resilience, leadership and innovation in their communities.

Similarly the United Nations urge international body, countries and communities to sustain Oneness, Emphasizing that despite vastly different national and local realities, youth everywhere seek dignity, quality education, decent work, and sustainable futures.
