Senator Ekong Sampson Spreads Christmas Cheer in Mkpat Enin, Donates Vehicles, Assures Robust Representation
The Senator representing Akwa Ibom South (Eket) Senatorial District, Senator Ekong Sampson, on Monday, December 29, 2025, brought festive cheer to Mkpat Enin Local Government Area as he hosted members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in a Christmas celebration marked by goodwill, unity, and generous donations.
The well-attended event saw the senator announced 400 bags of rice and N12 Million cash gifts to party members traditional rulers across Mkpat Enin, in what he described as a gesture of appreciation and solidarity with constituents during the Yuletide season.
Beneficiaries drawn from wards and political structures within the local government expressed gratitude for the timely support, noting that the gesture reflected responsive and compassionate leadership.
In addition to the festive gifts, Senator Sampson fulfilled a key promise by donating utility vehicles to strategic institutions in the area.
Vehicles were formally handed over to the office of the Mkpat Enin Chapter Chairman, Hon. Utitofon Jeremiah, as well as to the Traditional Rulers Council, to enhance administrative efficiency and mobility in carrying out their duties.
Speaking at the event, Senator Sampson emphasized the importance of unity across party lines in advancing development at the grassroots.
He reaffirmed his commitment to effective representation of Mkpat Enin Local Government Area in 2026, pledging sustained engagement and the delivery of people-oriented projects.
The senator assured constituents of his resolve to facilitate infrastructural development across the four clans that make up Mkpat Enin, highlighting roads, utilities, and community-support initiatives as priority areas.
According to him, inclusive governance and equitable distribution of development projects remain central to his legislative agenda, and appealed to party members to support his second term aspiration, as well as Governor Umo Eno, Senate President, Godswill Akpabio and President Bola Tinubu come 2027 elections.
In their remarks, party leaders and traditional authorities commended the senator for keeping his promises and maintaining a strong presence among the people.
The APC Chapter Chairman, Hon. Utitofon Jeremiah described the outreach as a morale booster and a demonstration of leadership rooted in service, particularly at a time of economic challenges.
Former House of Assembly member, Hon. Otobong Ndem praised Senator Ekong for his impactful representation and called for more infrastructure in the Local Government, and the Senatorial District, emphasizing that, it would be better for the senator to attract more development infrastructures, employment and improving the welfare of the people than, people asking for only rice.
The event concluded on a note of goodwill and renewed commitment, with calls for continued collaboration between political stakeholders and traditional institutions to foster peace, unity, and sustainable development in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area and the wider Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District.
